If your Comet Static 1700 inlet connection doesn't match up, is leaking, or seems backwards, you might be missing the inlet adapter. There's a brass Female BSP to Female GHT part that was in your OE Comet accessories bag that you need to put on the pump first. Without this adapter the pump has male 3/4" BSPP thread that is not compatible with our garden hoses. Plus, you always need the inlet to the pressure washer to be FEMALE 3/4" GHT. Here's what the setup should look like:
Hose Bib > Female GHT Coupler > Male GHT Plug > Female end of hose > Male end of hose > Female GHT Coupler > Male GHT Plug > Female to Female Adapter > Pump Inlet.
Make sure that the FINER threads on the female to female part to TO the pump.
NOTE: Some new Comet machines have a different inlet adapter. Some are larger, some are different materials altogether. If you want something better, get this: BRASS PRESSURE WASHER INLET ADAPTER FOR GARDEN HOSE
