Comet Static 1700 - Inlet and Outlet configurations
Congrats on your new pressure washer purchase, and thank you for supporting Obsessed Garage. The Comet Static 1700 can be configured in a variety of ways depending on its application. Below you will find information on setting up your machine to fit you the best.
Before anything - Inspection
This step might seem slightly bothersome, but it is one of the most important. We request that everything is inventoried by you the customer upon delivery. If anything is missing or damaged in your order it is best to catch it early so our support team can resolve it quickly and get you up and running.
Also, The Comet comes with many OEM attachments one of which is needed to adapt the inlets BSPP (British Standard Pipe Parallel) thread to a US GHT (Garden Hose Thread). The picture below is the fitting. Please make sure not to discard this.
Inlet Setup - wall mount
The inlet of the Comet comes with BSPP (British Standard Pipe Parallel) threads. This is obviously a problem here in the US. Luckily, Comet includes an adapter in the box. The fitting pictured above will convert BSPP to GHT (Garden Hose Thread) and should be the first thing you attach to the Comet. The adapter has an O-ring and does not require Teflon tape. You could then attach your garden hose QD plug or standard hose to the adapter.
Inlet Setup - Portable
The inlet of the comet points is threaded in BSPP (British Standard Pipe Parallel) thread and points straight down only a few inches above the ground. In order to use the pressure washer flat on the ground or table, you need to angle the inlet 90°. Luckily we offer a solution to that problem.
The casing of the Comet will have to be removed to install the 90° elbow. Matt has a great video on how to do that here. Our Stainless BSPT 90 Degree Elbow is compatible with the British threads and screws directly onto the inlet with Teflon tape. It will only screw on a few threads deep so don't be alarmed. You would then connect the BSPP to GHT adapter picture above to the other end of the 90° with no tape. You could then attach your garden hose QD plug or standard hose to the adapter. ngf
Outlet Setup - Retaining the Hose Reel
The included stock Comet hose has a 1/4" female end that screws directly into the OEM gun. If you are upgrading to the Obsessed garage accessories this will also need to be adapted. We offer a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter. That will screw directly into the OEM hose with Teflon tape. You can then attach a 3/8" Female QD Coupler to the newly terminated end with Teflon tape.
Outlet Setup - After Market Hose
In order to bypass or discard the OE hose, you will simply remove the included M22 jumper hose from the pump connection, not the hose reel. Please see the image below for clarification. An M22 15mm plug will screw directly onto the pump no Teflon tape is needed. You can then connect any hose equipt with a 3/8" coupler.
To remove the Hose reel from the Comet there are two screws on the back of the handle. Please see this video on how to remove it.
