Pressure Washer Fittings: Simplified

Any time you search the web for pressure washer fittings, you get bombarded with so many different ways to connect all your parts and pieces. Even on Obsessed Garage, the vast number of options can get overwhelming. If you're having trouble sorting through the mess, this article should be exactly what you need.

Common Areas Where Fittings Are Used

  • Garden & Inlet Hose Connections
  • Pressure Washer Outlet
  • Pressure Washer Hoses
  • Sprayers
  • Wands
  • Nozzles

Garden & Inlet Hose Connections

These are the simplest:

  • All garden hoses use 3/4" GHT threads
  • Male-threaded outlets and female-threaded inlets—always

Example setup:

Hose Bibb + 3/4" Female Coupler > 3/4" Male Plug + Inlet Hose Female End > Inlet Hose Male End + 3/4" Female Coupler > 3/4" Male Plug + Pressure Washer Inlet

Water always flows from male (outlet) to female (inlet).

Exceptions:

  • Some pressure washers come with 3/4" BSPP male threads.
  • They usually include a female BSPP to female GHT adapter to match U.S. standard hoses.
  • CR Spotless uses male-threaded inlets, which is unusual. If you're using a standard hose, use a female-to-female GHT adapter.

Leaks?

  • Check the rubber washer inside the female connection.
  • Don’t use pipe tape or sealant.

Pressure Washer Outlet

Most washers have an M22 male threaded outlet, usually 14mm or 15mm inside diameter.

We convert this to a QD system:

  • Use an M22 Female to 3/8" Plug
  • Add a 3/8" Coupler on the hose
  • Now you can easily connect and disconnect

Pressure Washer Hoses

Two common ends:

  • M22 Female (Kranzle, Active 2.0, Karcher, etc.)
  • 3/8" Male NPT (our preferred style)

We recommend QDs on both hose ends.

Common QD combos:

  • 3/8" Male NPT Hoses:
    • Mosmatic 3/8" Female Coupler

      14mm M22 Female Hoses:

    • M22 Male 14mm to 3/8" QD Coupler

      15mm M22 Female Hoses:

    • M22 Male 15mm to 3/8" QD Coupler

Sprayers (aka Spray Guns)

Inlets

  • OEM sprayers usually have M22 male threads (14mm or 15mm)

    Convert to QD with:

    • M22 Female to 3/8" Plug (match 14mm or 15mm)

Exceptions:

  • Karcher K2–K5 uses non-standard plug-and-pin. No adapter available.
  • Comet Static 1700 uses 1/4" Euro threads. Not supported.

Aftermarket Sprayers

  • Usually have 3/8" Female NPT inlet
  • Add a 3/8" Male QD Plug
  • Our OG Spec Mosmatic Sprayer already has one built-in

Outlets

  • OEM sprayers usually have M22 Female outlet (14mm)

    Convert with:

    • M22 Male 14mm to 3/8" QD Coupler

Aftermarket Sprayers:

  • Use 1/4" Female NPT outlet
  • Add a 1/4" Male QD Coupler to connect nozzles or wands

Wands

Inlets

  • OEM wands use M22 male (14mm)

    Convert to QD with:

    • M22 Female to 3/8" Plug (14mm or 15mm)
  • Not worth adapting plastic wands with quick-locks—just upgrade

Aftermarket Wands:

  • Use 1/4" Male NPT inlet
  • Add a 1/4" Female QD Plug
  • OG Spec Wand has this built in

Outlets

  • Most use 1/4" QD Coupler to attach nozzles
  • Some have 1/8" NPT, but rare
  • OG Spec Wand has a fixed coupler
  • Original Mosmatic Wand allows swap with M12x1mm female coupler

We have couplers available for both of our Mosmatic wands:

  • Mosmatic 1/4" Male QD Coupler
  • Stainless Steel 1/4" Male QD Coupler
  • Mosmatic 1/4" Female QD Plug
