Griot's Garage G15 Long-Throw Orbital Polisher
There is no argument that we have many 5" long-throw, random orbital polishers in the game. The Rupes LHR15 MkIII has dominated the segment since its release. But what if you don't have $450 to spare? You need someplace to start. At nearly half the cost, the Griot's Garage G15 Long-Throw Orbital Polisher is what you want.
A lot of thought has gone into the design of this unit. It has a progressive trigger that is intuitive to lock and actuate, making it easier to dial in your polishing speeds for specific areas of your panel. Just above the trigger is the speed dial, which is accessible for both right and left-handed users. Moving up to the head of the unit, you will find many hand positions to hold the machine. The backing plate is also unique. Due to the holes and slots machined into it, it creates an increased cooling effect compared to standard backing plates. This will help your pads last longer. Overall, the machine has been ergonomically engineered to also easily lay on its back when not in use.
A really genius feature of this polisher is the removable power cord. This makes polishing with this machine convenient in more ways than one. First, let's talk about blowing out your pad. You don't have to drag the cord around with you when you go blow out your pad in a different part of your garage! This power cord is also compatible with Griot's Garage's other polishers. That way, if you are working with multiple polishers, you only need one power cord for all of them, resulting in fewer cords to tangle up.
One thing to note. It is not recommended to use the G15 (or any long throw polisher, for that matter) to apply sealants and waxes. The long throw will cure the sealant or wax unevenly. We recommend applying waxes and sealants by hand or by using machines designed specifically for that purpose.
Griot's Garage not only makes great products, but they stand by them as well. They will repair or replace any defective tool due to workmanship for the working life of the tool without charge. Certain exclusions do apply. They also provide a guarantee of your satisfaction. If you are not 100% satisfied with the product within the first six months of ownership, request a return, with proof of purchase, for a full refund or credit.
If you are looking for a great entry-level polisher, the G15 is the one to start with. The research and development that Griot's Garage has put into this machine has paid off, as seen by the features and design of the unit. Once you have mastered this machine, you can add the Griot's Garage G13 Polisher to your arsenal to tackle the tight areas as well.
